The foundational question of any business is: How do you make it work? Finding ways to keep the lights on (and the books balanced) is not easy, particularly when a brand wants to prioritize ethics and sustainability. So whenever a business in our space discovers new ways to thrive, I take notice. 

You may be familiar with Sackville & Co.’s gold stacked grinder or crystal ball pipe, or maybe you’ve noticed their joint essentials pack in Urban Outfitters’ online smoke shop. What might be news to you—it was to me—is that this cannabis lifestyle brand has built a complimentary business designing cannabis lifestyle products for other brands. Sackville Studios is a parallel operation applying the businesses’ strengths in a wider marketplace. 

Curious to learn more, I reached out to Sackville & Co. founders Hayley Dineen and Lana Van Brunt. Both were born and raised in Canada, with careers in fashion and branding pre-weed. Van Brunt is now based in New York, and Dineen lives in Toronto. The following interview features united answers from both.
