Yes. Thank you for helping make sense of the weird feelings. It seems the only way to still be here if you were here in 2019 is to be selling hemp THC. It’s a strange and uncomfortable feeling.. probably not unlike the 2nd wave felt as we were living our best life in 2019-2020. Things change quickly and all of a sudden the “innovator” becomes the “old head” 😭😭
💚💚💚 Glad this put words to your feelings, too. Agreed—its like if you've been here since pre-pandemic, you're either spinning out or currently working on a hemp gummy/drink launch.
THANK YOU, Lauren for bringing forth the writing on the wall in a way that’s non-threatening nor accusatory. Just the facts. This timeline reflects my experience working in weed since 2015 up to my decision to focus on psilocybin and the broader sector of psychedelics in 2021 and my recent entry into hemp THC bevs. Women are turning to every one of these solutions for pain(of every kind), stress, and so on. I look forward to walking into a plant-based pharmacy offering all the magic - just as a century or more ago. Technology will make our experience predictable, but a focus on the true nature - literally - of these medicines can be the reminder we all need of uncomplicated it can be to foster our own healing. Without risk to one’s freedom or reputation - hopefully this is a defining marker of the 4th wave.
Thank you! It's all good for Broccoli...they're continuing their work in the same super creative way, just focusing on a variety of themes now v exclusively weed. Re: Asia, I'm assuming you're referring to Thailand? It's still very illegal in most Asian countries.
This literally made me cry. It doesn't feel like so long ago when all of these cool new female focused & modern cannabis brands and magazines emerged. I was so excited. I had been here in the industry since ‘07 & was elated for the shift to good modern design & updated aesthetics. I can't belive that era went by so quickly
And now we sit at the precipice of another era of change here in TX as lawmakers attempt to decimate our thriving hemp industry. Thanks for this, it’s definitely an idea I have been mulling over for quite some time & absolutely feel what was written here (understandably) only scratches the surface ✌️💚

Very interesting read Lauren, thank you and what a shame for your magazine!!
Have you looked at doing anything linked to Asia - this is booming?
Super cool insights, thanks for sharing! Love the ending note.

DNA-based strain matching is wild, but is it weird that i’m intrigued?!

Great insight, reminds me of something I wrote: He tastes.I see.He remembers.I dissolve. https://substack.com/home/post/p-162049290
